[Bells ring in your head ominously.]

From v32, Batocera official supports running on the Capcom Home Arcade (CHA)! Most of these installation instructions are lifted from the Unofficial Capcom Home Arcade Manual, refer to that if you have further questions about the CHA itself, as this article pertains to only Batocera.

This page is a list of tested compatible dongles for Batocera and their tested platform. If your dongle is not listed, it doesn't mean it won't work, just that it hasn't been formally tested yet.

In this article, we will help you create a custom DMD to use with Batocera. We are using ZeDMD as a basis as it's a cost-effective yet powerful solution, and now fully supported on Batocera 40+.

If on Batocera v35 or above, it is instead recommended to check out the dedicated light gun page if primarily intending on playing retro light gun games. This page may still be applicable if still on legacy hardware or only intend on playing Wii games.

Batocera 40

Like most other supported hardware platforms, you can just burn Batocera on a SDCard, and boot from there.
If you boot your GTKing on Android, you will have a menu to select boot on SDcard at the next boot.

Remember back in the physical arcades how game cabinets would proudly display the logo of the game they featured on the overhead billboards? Well, thanks to the aid of modern technology, it is now possible to replicate those banners! And since we're in Batocera, we can dynamically change those artworks to reflect the game that's being played at that current moment!

Since batocera 43, you can use a nfc reader and cards to start/stop your games or execute any custom action (like shutting down batocera).

Required hardware

A nfc reader

It is recommanded to use a pn532 reader while it is recognized by both software you can use in batocera. It costs about 10€.

Radxa Zero

[Cute!]

Supported since Batocera v33, this little chip is a micro-powerhouse!

The Radxa Zero comes with a u-boot from the factory that does not allow booting off the micro-SD card, so it is recommended instead to install Batocera to the eMMC storage. Incidentally, this means you can reserve the eMMC entirely for Batocera while using a larger micro-SD card to act as your userdata partition. Organization!
