Tyrian

Tyrian (1995) by Eclipse Software / Epic MegaGames is a vertically-scrolling shoot 'em up set in the year 20,031. It features a rich storyline, extensive weapon upgrade system, multiple ship types and both single-player and two-player arcade modes. The game was released as freeware in 2004 and Batocera uses OpenTyrian, an open-source port of the game. This system scrapes metadata for the “ports” group(s) and loads the tyrian set from the currently selected theme, if available. Grouped with the “ports” group of systems.

  • Emulator: OpenTyrian
  • Folder: roms/tyrian/
  • Accepted ROM formats: .game

No OpenTyrian emulator in Batocera needs a BIOS file to run.

This is a standalone freeware game. No ROM is required — you can get the game asset files directly from the Batocera Content Downloader. The Content Downloader will place the game data in /userdata/roms/tyrian/data/. A .game launch file will also be created automatically.

If you prefer to install manually, place the Tyrian 2.1 data files in /userdata/roms/tyrian/data/ and create an empty .game file in /userdata/roms/tyrian/.
